Former Arsenal defender William Gallas believes his old side could slip down the Premier League table if they don't sign a striker this summer.

Ex-France defender Gallas wonders if Arsenal's squad is "slowly dropping off" after finishing second in the division for three straight years. He added that if they don't sign a new number nine, they could slide down the English top-flight next season.

He told Prime Casino: “I could see Arsenal slipping down the table if they don’t sign a striker this summer. If you look at the statistics, you could say that last season was worse than the season before. Maybe the squad is slowly dropping off, maybe opponents are working out how to play against Arsenal, that will make things even more difficult.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arsenal fans have urged the club to sign a centre-forward for a couple of years now but Arteta's team have not been able to land a clinical striker. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have led the line but many believe their missing piece will be to sign a new number nine, such as RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko or Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres – both of whom are on their radar.
