Frimpong’s imminent arrival coincides with the departure of long-serving right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose exit over the weekend leaves a significant void on Liverpool’s right flank. His move to Anfield also adds to an increasingly Dutch flavour in Liverpool’s squad. The Reds already boast Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo among their ranks, with new manager Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp, also hailing from the Netherlands.
WHAT NEXT FOR FRIMPONG?
Shortly after Liverpool’s final Premier League match of the season, Frimpong ‘liked’ an Instagram post from the club that featured fellow Dutch internationals Van Dijk, Gravenberch, and Gakpo lifting the league trophy at Anfield. However, Frimpong may not be the only arrival from Leverkusen this summer. Liverpool are also reportedly closing in on another high-profile signing: German sensation Florian Wirtz. The attacking midfielder played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten league season, and Liverpool appear to have edged out Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in pursuit of his signature.
